Alliance Française encourages better knowledge and understanding of francophone and other cultures by supporting a wide variety of social and cultural events. With the help of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CulturesFrance and in partnership with local institutions and companies, Alliance Française organizes cultural activities, including music concerts, theatre productions, fashion shows, book launches, film festivals, dance shows and art exhibitions. These all contribute to the creation of a diverse cultural exchange.
The name of Alliance Française de Bulawayo has become synonymous with exceptional cultural and artistic events, many of which were a first in the City of Kings. Between 2002 and 2010, the association welcomed many seasoned artists to Bulawayo, including Sally Nyolo, Lionel Loueke, Joe Nina, Kinobe & Soul Beat Africa, Oliver Mtukudzi, Chiwoniso, The Cool Crooners, Ismael Lo, Quator Parisii, Aly Keita, Dudu Manhenga, Asa Lasha, Sashird Lao and Thibault Cauvin.
Alliance Française events attract a wide spectrum of the Bulawayo community and we strive to cater for all tastes. In music, for example, the different genres of music that have been showcased are a good example, ranging from classical concerts and modern jazz to popular music and music featuring traditional African instruments.
Members of Alliance Française de Bulawayo are invited to participate actively in our cultural programme.
